Senior Advisor to the Presidency of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) on artificial intelligence, and Research Scientist at the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute (IIIA-CSIC), where he has been a member since 1995. He holds a PhD from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and has also worked in the private sector as a researcher at Ubilab, the UBS innovation lab, and as Chief Technology Officer at iSOCO. He has served as an advisor to the Spanish Government Presidency on disinformation. His work focuses on machine learning, multi-agent systems, decision support under uncertainty, and AI for science, health and citizen science. He currently promotes the responsible adoption of AI at the CSIC, including infrastructure, shared services and governance mechanisms. He regularly serves as a senior member of the programme committees of IJCAI and AAAI and is an associate editor of the Artificial Intelligence Journal.
