Eugenio Martínez Cámara

Eugenio Martínez Cámara studied computer engineering at the University of Jaén, where he also completed his doctoral thesis in natural language processing, focusing on the analysis of opinions in Spanish. He is currently a tenured professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Jaén and a member of the SINAI research group.

After completing his doctorate, Eugenio Martínez began his research career at the Technical University of Darmstadt (Germany), where he worked on the processing of causal expressions. Following this, he received two grants from the Juan de la Cierva program, which he used to conduct research at the University of Granada, primarily working on the computational paradigm known as federated learning. After these grants, he returned to the University of Jaén and rejoined the SINAI research group, resuming his work in natural language processing. He is the author of nearly 150 publications in high-impact journals and international conference proceedings. He is the principal investigator on several publicly and privately funded projects, collaborates on the editorial program of various scientific journals such as Natural Language Processing and Information Fusion, and is involved in the organization of scientific events such as the IberLEF forum and the congress of the Spanish Society for Natural Language Processing (SEPLN). He has also served as vice president of SEPLN since 2023, secretary of the Center for Advanced Studies in ICT at the University of Jaén, and a member of the monitoring committee for the Isdefe/CETEDEX-UJA Chair.
